Kan-Be-Healthy

 

 

KAN Be Healthy is a medicaid program to help children and young adults stay healthy with regular check-ups. It is for everyone who is 20 or under and has a medical ID card. It is a federal program to provide good health by finding and treating, medical, dental, developmental and emotional problems.

 

 

 

KAN Be Healthy services are important because they:

  • Prevent illness - Regular check-ups and immunizations (shots) help keep kids healthy.
     
  • Find problems early - Check-ups help find problems so they can be treated before they become serious.

Medical - Kan Be Healthy

When to get screens:    Birth 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18,and 24 months;

                                            then every year until age 6;

                                            then every 2 years through age 20

When you or your child's KBH medical screens are up-to date, you can have extra services like:

  • Over the counter medicines with a prescription (check with the pharmacist)
  • Immunizations (shots)
  • Rides to the doctor
  • Diet & Nutrition Counseling
  • Many, many more

Dental - Kan Be Healthy

When to get screens:     Every year

When KBH dental screens are up-to-date, you or your child can get services like:

  • Teeth cleaning
  • Fluoride treatment
  • Fillings
  • Teeth pulled

Vision - Kan Be Healthy

When to get screens:    Every 2 years after 3 years of age

When  KBH vision screens are up-to date, you or your child may get glasses when needed or extra tests when needed.

Hearing - Kan Be Healthy

When to get screens:    Every 3 years after age 3

When KBH hearing screens are up-to-date, you or your child may get hearing tests and extra services.
